Regarding this Section of the Blog

Hello everyone,
If you are reading this article, it is quite likely that you are looking at the CS889 Seminar blogs I have put together, to fulfill the reading summaries requirement of the seminar. The graduate seminar's website can be found at http://hci.uwaterloo.ca/courses/CS889/s10/

Essentially, I have to comment on and summarize the readings that have been assigned to me for the course. These readings are centred around several themes that have to do with the open source movement as well as the study of usability and the intersection of these two topics.

For those reading the blog who are not taking the seminar, I would suggest reading the suggested readings found at the CS889 website, and then reading the corresponding blog post relating to that theme's assigned reading.

Finally, I would encourage everyone to comment on these blogs and let me know what you think about them. It is through active discussion and debate that further progress can be made in this young field.

Sincerely Yours,

James Simpson
